🇧🇷 Sobre carvões e diamantes

As redes sociais e a superficialidade das relações interpessoais criadas por elas muitas vezes nos fazem crer que a vida do outro, especialmente das pessoas bem sucedidas, é fácil e nós somos sofredores, vítimas de um sistema ou de um grupo que quer nos massacrar. Sim, certamente existem pessoas que nos detestam. Ninguém agrada todo mundo. Nenhum dos grandes ícones religiosos agradou todo mundo. As maiores celebridades da atualidade ou de toda a história certamente não agradaram a todos. Mas enquanto nos comparamos a quem está sendo massacrado pela pressão e nos identificamos com tais pessoas dificilmente vamos identificar onde elas estão errando. E onde nós estamos errando.

Eu sempre fui de conversar com as pessoas à minha volta. Tenho fases de ouvir muito. Mas de vez em quando preciso falar também. Então essa superficialidade é um pouco estranha pra mim.

Às vezes estamos cercados de pessoas que não são nada inspiradoras pra chegar onde queremos estar. Vemos e ouvimos tanto das dificuldades delas que normalizamos isso. Ouvimos tantas críticas e se nos deixamos levar por elas e acreditamos que elas nos definem nunca chegaremos a lugar nenhum. Passamos a chamar de sorte a causa do sucesso de quem se destaca. Afinal, em qualquer estatística, vencedores são uma minoria.

Desde a infância sou apaixonada por ler biografias. E em qualquer biografia, mesmo aquelas que são adaptadas para o cinema e podem ter o conteúdo um pouco romanceado, vemos a luta por trás do sucesso das pessoas. Vemos que nunca foi sorte. Eu vejo isso e sempre me dá força pra encarar meus desafios. Tendo a pensar que se eles conseguiram eu também posso atingir meus objetivos, por mais que pareçam absurdos para muita gente. A diferença entre a maioria e quem tem sucesso fica muito clara em qualquer biografia.

Os conflitos e dores da maioria podem ser ótimos para criar boas músicas populares, mas para ser um músico bem sucedido é preciso ter uma luta diferente da maioria, encarar as coisas por ângulos que outros não vêem. Ver a vida com os olhos dos vencedores. Porque quem faz parte da maioria em qualquer estatística só nos ajuda a vencer se olhamos para tais pessoas com um olhar crítico buscando aprender tanto com os erros delas como com os nossos.

Eu já realizei coisas que até ali eram impossíveis muitas vezes. E ainda que algumas lutas demorem para serem vencidas e alguns objetivos sejam muito grandes, essas vitórias, mesmo que eu ganhasse na loteria para ter um impulso financeiro pra atingir alguns objetivos, não foram, não são e não serão mera sorte ou fruto do acaso. São vitórias construídas tijolo por tijolo.

Se você se identifica com isso, com as vitórias construídas tijolo por tijolo, e trabalha com arte, pode fazer parte do meu time. E isso não significa ser forte o tempo todo, mas saber identificar e gerenciar a própria fraqueza. Ainda que eu tenha conseguido muita coisa, tem dias que tenho vontade de chorar ou preciso de um ombro amigo pra ajudar a colocar a cabeça em ordem. Às vezes os únicos ombros amigos disponíveis são os meus. E se só tem eles, o jeito é ser minha melhor amiga e acolher minha dor da mesma forma que procuro ser amiga dos meus amigos. Foi fácil cultivar essa atitude? Não. A sociedade pressiona para a perfeição (e a pressão em si não é negativa ou positiva). A família pressiona pra sermos o que eles querem que sejamos, muitas vezes (e isso é negativo por geralmente nos distanciar de quem realmente somos). Tem pressão de todo lado, não importa se somos homens, mulheres, brancos, negros, cis ou trans, gays ou heterossexuais, nem importa nossa nacionalidade, religião, se nascemos em berço de ouro ou se nem berço tivemos, se somos famosos ou anônimos. E daí? Um diamante é um carvão que se saiu bem sob pressão. Você é carvão ou diamante? Cada um tem seu valor, certamente. Não dá pra acender uma churrasqueira ou uma lareira com diamantes. Mas aqui, quero falar com diamantes e com quem esteja disposto a polir a si mesmo pra tornar-se um.

🇬🇧 Change of habit

I recently saw a video of a Brazilian woman living in Canada commenting on some new habits she acquired there. It was funny to see her say that in Brazil, on rainy days, she just stayed at home. And in Canada, if she does that, she'll never leave home.  😂

I was born in a city where it almost never rains. And when it rains it is stifling, a horrible heat. It is really not very encouraging to go out on rainy days. I currently live in Curitiba (I hope to be on another continent in a year), and in Curitiba, like where she lives in Canada, it rains frequently. And we get used to it.

It's a little like going out alone. In Brazil, women are not in the habit of going out alone or traveling alone. I've even seen women in groups of women travelling alone on social network looking for company. I find it curious, but I understand that for some women it is not as easy as it was for me.

I learned to go out alone in college. I went out with a boy that the friend of my roommates wanted to meet and they stopped going out with me for that. So, I learned to go out on my own, starting with activities like going to the movies, then trips, shows, etc. I will not stay home for lack of company. It was not difficult. At that time it was difficult for me to stay at home.

It was no different with the rain. And luckily, the normal thing in Curitiba is to stay cool after the rain. It is nice to go out.

I want to get out of here to a place with snow. I hope I will do it later this year.  Music work will continue wherever I go. By the way, musicians looking for global success must have a good deal of ability to adapt to different foods, cultural habits, deal with public opinion that is not always favourable, and much more.

🇧🇷 Mudança de hábito

Vi agora há pouco um vídeo de uma brasileira que vive no Canadá comentando alguns novos hábitos que ela adquiriu lá. Foi engraçado ver ela falar que, no Brasil, em dias de chuva, ela simplesmente ficava em casa. E lá no Canadá se ela for agir assim ela nunca vai sair de casa. 😂

Eu nasci numa cidade onde quase nunca chove. E quando chove fica abafado, um calor horroroso. É realmente pouco encorajador pra sair em dias de chuva. Atualmente vivo em Curitiba (espero estar em outro continente daqui a um ano), e em Curitiba, como lá onde ela mora no Canadá, chove frequentemente. E a gente acaba acostumando.

É um pouco como sair sozinha. No Brasil, mulheres não têm o hábito de sair sozinhas ou viajar sozinhas. Já vi até em grupos sobre o tema mulheres procurando companhia. Eu acho curioso, mas entendo que pra algumas não é fácil como foi pra mim.

Eu aprendi a sair sozinha na época da faculdade. Saí com um rapaz que a amiga das moças que moravam comigo queria conhecer e elas pararam de sair comigo por isso. Então, aprendi a sair sozinha, começando com atividades como ir ao cinema, depois viagens, shows, etc. Não vou ficar em casa por falta de companhia. Não foi difícil. Difícil naquela época era eu ficar em casa.

Com a chuva não foi diferente. E, por sorte, o normal em Curitiba é ficar fresquinho depois da chuva. É agradável para sair.

Quero sair daqui para um lugar com neve. Espero que o faça ainda neste ano. O trabalho com música vai continuar onde quer que eu vá. Por sinal, músicos que busquem sucesso global devem ter uma boa dose de habilidade para adaptar-se a diferentes comidas, hábitos culturais, lidar com a opinião pública que nem sempre é favorável, e muito mais.

🇬🇧 Mix of styles

I returned! Too much going on. I decided to resume one of the blog's original themes, which is art, because there is a lot going on in my musical universe and I wanted to share it.

This week Apocalyptica released a new song called “Ei vaihtoehtoo” (meaning “no choice” in english) with vocals by a Finnish hip hop singer called Paleface. The sound reminds me more of rap, but when searching the internet for who he is the information is that he sings hip hop.

I still haven't digested the song well. I have no problems with this mix of styles, but a number of factors made this song a difficult work for me to appreciate. Let's talk about it.

The introduction to the song is the introduction to “Bittersweet”. "Bittersweet" is a ballad that has an all instrumental version, without vocals, which I love; and one with Ville Valo and Lauri Ylönen, lead singer of The Rasmus, both Finns, singing in English. I am not going to say that the introduction is exactly the same because it has been thirty years since I studied music (I want to study again in 2021). But it sounds identical. Then suddenly a vocalist appears singing rap! In Finnish! It's a shock. And I understand that it is a bigger shock because they use the introduction of "Bittersweet". If it were a song with a completely new instrumental it would be easier to digest, to enjoy. The use of music that creates an expectation of ballads has made assimilation more difficult.

Apocalyptica was not the first band to mix styles and will certainly not be the last. From what I know of the band's work, although they have an identification with metal, they are not limited in the process of composition by the label of metal band. An example is the song “Hole in my soul”, which I shared a piece of the lyrics on my Instagram days ago. It has a jazzy or bluesy feel, it is far from common metal band music. And it's beautiful. Perfect interpretation of Franky Perez!

An example of a mix of styles that have several duets recorded in this way is the Dutch rock band Bløf. They sing in Dutch and, as far as I know, are super famous in their country of origin. But there are songs by them with the Portuguese fado singer Cristina Branco (who has a wonderful voice); with the Portuguese Fernando Lameirinhas; with Sabrina Starke, another divine voice that usually sings folk, jazz, soul and R&B, among others. With artists who do not have Dutch as their native language, participation is usually done in the original language of the invited artist. And the results I saw were good.

Another example that followed this path of bringing artists of other styles as guests is the band Within Temptation. In the Hydra album, the American rapper Xzibit participated in the song “and we run”, which I like a lot, although rap is not my thing.

Anyway, taking risks is part of the game. Sometimes we get it right, sometimes things don't have the result we expect. But doing what we believe is important.

Music has been a recurring theme on my Instagram, sometimes with some old images. The blog continues, and I recommend that you follow it and include it in your favorite feed reader so you don't miss a thing.

Voltei! Muita coisa acontecendo. Resolvi retomar um dos temas originais do blog, que é a arte, porque tem muita coisa acontecendo no meu universo musical e deu vontade de compartilhar.

Nesta semana o Apocalyptica lançou uma música nova chamada “Ei vaihtoehtoo” (que significa “sem escolhas” em português) com vocais de um cantor finlandês de hip hop chamado Paleface. A sonoridade me lembra mais rap, mas ao buscar na internet quem ele é a informação é que ele canta hip hop.

Eu ainda não digeri bem a música. Não tenho problemas com essa mistura de estilos, mas um conjunto de fatores tornou essa canção uma obra de apreciação difícil pra mim. Vamos falar disso.

A introdução da música é a introdução de “Bittersweet”. “Bittersweet” é uma baladinha que tem uma versão toda instrumental, sem vocais, que eu adoro; e uma com Ville Valo e Lauri Ylönen, vocalista do The Rasmus, ambos finlandeses, cantando em inglês. Não vou dizer que a introdução é exatamente igual porque fazem trinta anos que não estudo música (quero voltar a estudar agora em 2021). Mas soa idêntica. Aí de repente aparece um vocalista cantando rap! Em finlandês! É um choque. E entendo que é um choque maior pelo uso da introdução de “Bittersweet”. Se fosse uma música com um instrumental completamente novo seria mais fácil de digerir, de apreciar. O fato de usar como base uma música que cria uma expectativa de baladinha tornou a assimilação mais difícil.

O Apocalyptica não foi a primeira banda a misturar estilos e certamente não será a última. Pelo que conheço do trabalho da banda, embora eles tenham uma identificação com o metal, eles não se limitam no processo de composição pelo rótulo de banda de metal. Um exemplo é a canção “Hole in my soul”, que compartilhei um pedacinho da letra no meu Instagram dias atrás. Tem uma pegada meio jazz ou blues, passa longe de uma música comum de banda de metal. E é linda. Interpretação perfeita de Franky Perez!

Um exemplo de mistura de estilos que tem vários duetos assim gravados é a banda de rock holandesa Bløf. Eles cantam em holandês e, pelo que sei, são super famosos em seu país de origem. Mas tem músicas deles com a fadista portuguesa Cristina Branco (que tem uma voz maravilhosa); com o também português Fernando Lameirinhas; com Sabrina Starke, outra voz divina que normalmente canta folk, jazz, soul e R&B, entre outros. Com artistas que não têm o holandês como língua nativa normalmente a participação é feita na língua original do artista convidado. E os resultados que vi foram bons.

Outro exemplo que seguiu esse caminho de trazer artistas de outros estilos como convidados é a banda Within Temptation. Inclusive, no álbum Hydra, conta com a participação do rapper americano Xzibit na música “and we run”, que eu gosto muito, embora rap não seja minha praia.

Enfim, correr riscos faz parte do jogo. Às vezes a gente acerta, às vezes as coisas não têm o resultado que esperamos. Mas fazer o que acreditamos é importante.

Música tem sido um tema recorrente no meu Instagram, às vezes com algumas imagens antigas. O blog continua, e recomendo que você o siga e o inclua no seu leitor de feeds preferido para não perder nada.

🇬🇧 A cultural nomad in cinema

Each place follows fashion trends at a pace. I don't expect to find audacious people in a small town wearing exclusive designer clothes from super authorial collections, even though I was such a person in my hometown. And as there is this difference in rhythms and also the climatic and cultural differences, what you wear where you currently live will not always be interesting in your next destination.

So it is an advantage that you have an open mind to allow your style to evolve regardless of the circumstances and where you live. You can choose to adapt completely, and kill part of your individuality, or create conditions for the style to evolve.

Two good references for this are the films “The devil wears Prada” and “The dressmaker”. Both inspired by books, but here the visual reference of cinema is important. The difference in attitude of the characters is also crucial.

In the case of the first film, the character Andrea was forced to change her style (I mean, her total lack of style) to adapt to the dress code of the company where she found a job. However, she never accepted that style. She was limited and poorly dressed, and she didn't want to change or take the opportunity to improve in every way. If you saw the film, you know what she did in the end that proves this resistance to improve or lack of preparation to improve so much in a genuine way.

The way a person dresses does not define his talent as a professional, but denying an opportunity for evolution that includes a change of style for the better says a lot about how the person looks at life. I never met anyone who saw the film and found Andrea's appearance at the beginning of the film inspiring. Because it just isn't.

The second film the character Tilly evolved during her travels around the world, and the visual and cultural shock when she returns to her hometown was great. This was not her place, even though she was born in the city. Because she voluntarily raised her standards when she left, she refused to pretend to be as limited as the locals when she returned. And it generated very controversial reactions. The movie is great and so is the book.

In life there are many different profiles when it comes to managing personal style linked to personal and professional evolution, but Tilly's profile is that of a cultural nomad who uses opportunities to evolve inside and out without fear of big leaps. A beautiful example of how personal style and lifestyle intertwine.

🇧🇷 Uma nômade cultural no cinema

Cada lugar acompanha as tendências de moda em um ritmo. Eu não espero encontrar em uma cidade pequena pessoas audaciosas que usam roupas exclusivas de estilistas que criam coleções super autorais, embora eu fosse uma pessoa assim em minha cidade natal. E como existe essa diferença de ritmos e também as diferenças climáticas e culturais, nem sempre o que você veste onde você vive atualmente será interessante em seu próximo destino.

Então é uma vantagem que você tenha a mente aberta para permitir que seu estilo evolua independentemente das circunstâncias e do lugar onde for morar. Você pode escolher adaptar-se totalmente, e matar parte de sua individualidade, ou criar condições para que o estilo evolua.

Duas boas referências para isso são os filmes “O diabo veste Prada” e “A vingança está na moda”. Ambos inspirados em livros, mas aqui a referência visual do cinema é importante. A diferença de atitude das personagens também é crucial.

No caso do primeiro filme, a personagem Andrea foi forçada a mudar seu estilo (digo, sua total falta de estilo) para adaptar-se ao dress code da empresa onde encontrou um trabalho. No entanto, ela nunca aceitou aquele estilo. Ela era jeca e mal vestida, e não queria mudar ou aproveitar a oportunidade para melhorar em todos os sentidos. Se você viu o filme, sabe o que ela fez no fim que comprova essa resistência a melhorar ou falta de preparo para melhorar tanto de forma genuína.

O jeito de uma pessoa se vestir não define seu talento como profissional, mas negar uma oportunidade de evolução que inclui uma mudança de estilo para muito melhor diz muito sobre como a pessoa encara a vida. Nunca encontrei alguém que tenha visto o filme e achasse a aparência da Andrea no começo do filme inspiradora. Porque simplesmente não é.

O segundo filme a personagem Tilly evoluiu durante suas viagens pelo mundo, e o choque visual e cultural quando ela retorna à sua cidade natal foi grande. Aquele não era seu lugar, ainda que tivesse nascido na cidade. E como ela elevou seus padrões voluntariamente quando saiu de lá, não aceitou fingir ser tão limitada quanto os moradores locais ao retornar. E gerou reações bem controversas. O filme é ótimo e o livro também.

Na vida existem muitos outros perfis diferentes no que tange à administração do estilo pessoal ligado à evolução pessoal e profissional, mas o perfil da Tilly é o de uma nômade cultural que usa as oportunidades para evoluir por dentro e por fora sem medo de grandes saltos. Um belo exemplo de como estilo pessoal e estilo de vida se entrelaçam.

🇬🇧 Brazilian habits

Today I will talk about some Brazilian habits that may be different from those of other countries. As Brazil is immense, when there are differences that I recognize between regions, I will mention them. And if you know of any other differences, comment. I will remember that this refers mainly to the reality of middle-upper or upper-class families. If you come to Brazil from another country, following this blog you will find tips to adapt your behavior more easily to the local culture. Good local culture. Avoid bad influences.

• In Brazil, when we meet friends and acquaintances, we greet with two or three kisses on the cheek. In some regions three, and in others, two. This is more common in meetings between women or women and men, but not between men, who normally shake hands.

• In small towns people ALWAYS greet people they know on the street. In this case, it can be a wave of the hand or head and a “hi” or “good morning / good afternoon / good evening” according to the time. I have already met a neighbor in Curitiba who was born in a small town and once commented to me how strange he is that in the capital people even pretend not to see him so as not to greet him. • As I said in the previous text, Brazilians from wealthier families usually have a domestic servant at home to cook, clean and organize the home. I know that anywhere in the world wealthy people have employees. I mention this because a middle class person in London or New York, if they come to Brazil keeping their income from the country of origin, whether working remotely or income from investments, can live in a much more comfortable pattern in Brazil. Generally, housekeepers are people of a very low cultural level, often semi-illiterate.

• Due to the dimensions of the territory, the houses usually have a yard and many have a garden. In the warmer regions it is common to have a swimming pool.

• In some regions it is a habit to take a gift when we go to someone's home for the first time. I learned this in Curitiba, where going to others' homes is not common. As it is a cute habit I think that other regions and even other countries could adopt as well.

🇧🇷 Hábitos de brasileiros

Hoje vou falar de alguns hábitos brasileiros que talvez sejam diferentes dos de outros países. Como o Brasil é imenso, quando houver diferenças que eu reconheça entre regiões vou mencioná-las. E se você souber de alguma outra diferença, comente. Vou lembrar que isso se refere principalmente à realidade de famílias de classe média-alta ou alta. Se você vier de outro país para o Brasil, seguindo este blog vai encontrar dicas para adaptar seu comportamento mais facilmente à cultura local. À boa cultura local. Evite as influências ruins.

• No Brasil, ao encontrar amigos e conhecidos cumprimentamos com dois ou três beijinhos no rosto. Em algumas regiões são três, e em outras, dois. Isso é mais comum em encontros entre mulheres ou mulher e homem, mas não entre homens, que normalmente se cumprimentam com um aperto de mãos.
• Nas cidades pequenas as pessoas SEMPRE cumprimentam os conhecidos na rua. Nesse caso, pode ser um aceno de mão ou de cabeça e um “oi” ou “bom dia/boa tarde/boa noite” conforme o horário. É extremamente rude você passar por algum conhecido sem cumprimentar. Sugiro seguir esse comportamento também em cidades maiores. Já encontrei um vizinho em Curitiba que nasceu numa cidade pequena e uma vez comentou comigo o quanto ele estranha que na capital as pessoas até fingem não vê-lo para não cumprimentar. Fingir que não vê, desviando o olhar ou virando o rosto é rude em qualquer lugar do país.
• Como falei no texto anterior, brasileiros de famílias mais abastadas normalmente têm uma empregada doméstica em casa para cozinhar, cuidar da limpeza e organização do lar. Eu sei que em qualquer lugar do mundo pessoas ricas têm empregados. Menciono isso porque uma pessoa de classe média em Londres ou Nova Iorque, se vem para o Brasil mantendo sua renda do país de origem, seja trabalhando remotamente ou a renda proveniente de investimentos, pode viver num padrão bem mais confortável no Brasil. Geralmente as empregadas domésticas, e também as diaristas (faxineiras), são pessoas de um nível cultural baixíssimo, muitas vezes semi analfabetas.
• Pelas dimensões do território, as casas normalmente têm quintal e muitas têm jardim. Nas regiões mais quentes é comum ter piscina.
• Em algumas regiões é um hábito levar um presente quando vamos à casa de alguém pela primeira vez. Aprendi isso em Curitiba, onde ir na casa dos outros não é algo comum. Como é um hábito bonitinho acho que outras regiões e mesmo outros países poderiam adotar também.

🇬🇧 What to know before to choose your next home

More tips for those who are moving! Today I will talk about some important things before choosing a property to live in, regardless of whether it is purchased or rented.

Before looking for a property in your destination, visualize what you are going to take and the space you need to accommodate yourself in comfort. Making a short list with indispensable features in the property helps to focus on what will satisfy your needs. The list is important for you not to be enchanted with a property that is wonderful in some areas, but where others are missing.

Do you have pets? Do you have children? Teen children? Do you intend to have a car or prefer to use public transport? Do you prefer to live in a totally residential area or in a region with a good commercial structure, where you can do a lot of things on foot or by bicycle? What is the ideal space for your wardrobes (and that of other family members or friends you live with)? What is the ideal kitchen space and what do you need in it? What is the ideal bathroom structure? How many bathrooms are needed? How many rooms are needed? Do you need a yard or garden? If you are going to live in an apartment, do you need a balcony? What is the ideal space for the service area?

Here I pause for two explanations. In some places, such as the United Kingdom, the service area, where washing machines and dryers are located, is usually in the kitchen. In Brazil, it is usually a separate space, close to the kitchen, but not inside it. Clothes dryers exist in the Brazilian trade, but are not yet very common in homes. Dishwashers are also not very common, although they do exist on the market, as wealthier families generally have a domestic worker whose job includes keeping the house clean and organized and cooking, and may include other services. For small properties, in Brazil, it is more interesting to have a daily cleaner, a person who comes once a week, cleans the house and receives only that day worked. The amount is more than a day for a monthly housekeeper, but it does not make sense to have a monthly housekeeper without her working for it. Well, the money is yours, if you want to keep a maid without a lot of work, feel free.

Mais dicas para quem vai se mudar! Hoje vou falar de algumas coisas importantes antes de escolher um imóvel para morar, independentemente de ser comprado ou alugado.

Antes de procurar um imóvel no seu destino, visualize o que você vai levar e o espaço que precisa para acomodar-se com conforto. Fazer uma listinha com características indispensáveis no imóvel ajuda a focar no que vai satisfazer suas necessidades. A lista é importante para você não se encantar com um imóvel que é maravilhoso em alguns quesitos, mas onde faltam outros importantes.

Você tem animais de estimação? Tem crianças? Filhos adolescentes? Pretende ter carro ou prefere usar o transporte público? Prefere viver em área totalmente residencial ou numa região com uma boa estrutura comercial, onde você possa fazer muita coisa a pé ou de bicicleta? Qual o espaço ideal para o seu guarda-roupas (e o dos demais membros da família ou amigos com quem for morar)? Qual o espaço ideal da cozinha e o que você precisa ter nela? Qual a estrutura ideal dos banheiros? Quantos banheiros são necessários? Quantos quartos são necessários? Precisa ter quintal ou jardim? Se vai morar em apartamento, precisa ter sacada? Qual o espaço ideal da área de serviço?

Aqui faço uma pausa para duas explicações. Em alguns lugares, como no Reino Unido, a área de serviço, onde ficam as máquinas de lavar e secar roupas, é normalmente na cozinha. No Brasil, geralmente é um espaço à parte, próximo da cozinha, mas não dentro dela. Máquinas de secar roupas existem no comércio brasileiro, mas ainda não são muito comuns nas residências. Máquinas de lavar louça também não são muito comuns, embora existam no mercado, pois as famílias mais abastadas geralmente têm uma empregada doméstica cujo trabalho  inclui manter a casa limpa e organizada e cozinhar, podendo incluir outros serviços. Para imóveis pequenos, no Brasil, é mais interessante ter uma diarista, uma pessoa que uma vez por semana vem, limpa a casa e recebe somente aquele dia trabalhado. O valor é maior que um dia de uma empregada doméstica mensalista, mas não faz sentido ter uma mensalista sem ela ter trabalho para isso. Bem, o dinheiro é seu, se quiser manter uma empregada doméstica sem muito trabalho, fique à vontade.

And if afterwards you decide to move to another country and it is not possible to take everything, good quality products are always better to sell.

So, if you come from another country, get ready to furnish and decorate the property. Unless you plan to stay during a short period of time, a few months, as there is no point in furnishing a property. Hoje vou falar de dicas sobre mudanças dentro do mesmo país. Acredito que possam ser úteis também em mudanças para países vizinhos, embora nesses casos eu sugiro que o leitor verifique eventuais regras que possam existir quanto à importação e exportação dos produtos que deseja transportar, como móveis, eletrodomésticos e outros.

Enquanto não achamos aquele lugar para chamar de lar, penso que o ideal seja manter o imóvel com o mínimo possível de coisas (móveis, eletrodomésticos e tudo mais). Mas investir em produtos de excelente qualidade. O transporte entre uma cidade e outra pode danificar produtos de baixa qualidade. A soma de várias mudanças também fará mais mal a objetos de menor qualidade que àqueles que estão entre os melhores disponíveis no mercado. E se depois você resolver mudar para um outro país e não for possível levar tudo, produtos de boa qualidade são sempre melhores para vender.

No Brasil não é comum encontrar imóveis mobiliados para aluguel, salvo flats e Airbnb, que têm aluguéis bem mais caros que um apartamento comum não mobiliado. Então, se você vem de outro país, prepare-se para mobiliar e decorar o imóvel. A menos que venha passar um período de tempo curto, poucos meses, pois aí não compensa mobiliar um imóvel. Melhor pagar mais por um que está pronto, embora não tenha sua identidade.

Ainda sobre mudanças no Brasil, em algumas cidades a voltagem das tomadas é 110 voltz e em outras cidades é 220. Ao mudar de uma cidade para outra dentro do país é bom observar isso e, se necessário, adquirir um transformador.

Dogs and cats in popular culture are sometimes seen as enemies. In practice, coexistence is possible. If you want to have cats and dogs at home, living together, you can follow some tips:

• If you already have adult dogs, bring a puppy cat home. I had a cat that I adopted elderly and was used to on the street, and for her it was difficult to get used to living with other animals, especially the puppy cat and the dog. He learned quickly to live with cats, despite being old, because he knew he was loved and did everything to please me. A small adult may be a good choice, as it does not have a size that can threaten cats.  I have no personal experience with having cats before having a dog yet, but I have seen a profile on a social network that the cat coexists well with a medium-sized puppy.
• Supervise socialising for the first few weeks. Avoid leaving dog and cat together unsupervised, even if the cat is super smart and has high points where he can protect himself if he feels threatened.
• When petting them, try to have both together, to avoid jealousy. Pets are sometimes quite jealous.

🇧🇷 Convivência entre cães e gatos

Cães e gatos na cultura popular são vistos, às vezes, como inimigos. Na prática, a convivência é possível. Se você quer ter cães e gatos em casa, convivendo juntos, pode seguir algumas dicas:

• Se já tem cães adultos, traga um gato filhote para casa. Eu tive uma gata que adotei idosa e era acostumada na rua, e para ela foi difícil acostumar com o convívio com outros animais, principalmente o gato filhote e o cachorro. Eles, por sua vez, tinham medo dela no começo. No caso dos filhotes, eles se adaptaram mais fácil com o cachorro. Ele aprendeu rápido a conviver com os gatos, apesar de ser idoso, porque sabia que era amado e fazia de tudo pra me agradar. A gata acabou se acostumando, por ganhar confiança em mim, mas demorou muito mais nessa adaptação que os que adotei filhotes.
• Se já tem gatos, um cachorro filhote possivelmente terá mais facilidade de se adaptar. Um adulto de pequeno porte talvez seja uma boa escolha, por não ter um porte que possa ameaçar os gatos. Eu não tenho experiência pessoal com ter gatos antes de ter cachorro ainda, mas já vi um perfil numa rede social que o gato convive bem com um filhote de cachorro de médio porte.
• Supervisione o convívio nas primeiras semanas. Evite deixar cão e gato juntos sem supervisão, mesmo que o gato seja super esperto e tenha pontos altos onde ele possa se proteger caso se sinta ameaçado.
• Ao fazer carinho neles, procure ter ambos juntos, para evitar ciúmes. Animais de estimação às vezes são bem ciumentos.
