🇬🇧 Why models must be tall and thin

Many people question the fact that catwalk models are always tall and thin when, according to them, “normal” people are shorter and never so thin. If you question yourself about this, read this text to the end. If you never thought about it, read it too!  😁
I work in the fashion industry since I was a child. I am 1.75 meters tall. When I was a teenager, it was impossible to find pants that suited me perfectly in length. They were all short. Fashion in Brazil at that time was far from being developed as it is nowadays. So, the obvious and practical reason why models are taller than average is to avoid this problem, to make clothes that fit perfectly for taller than average people. Because it is very easy to shorten a pair of pants than to lengthen them. In fact, all the methods for stretching pants, shirts, etc. will make the change very evident, looking like a patch. Which is disrespect for us tall people. And making clothes with the tallest people in mind does no harm to the shorter ones, because in all seasons there are clothes suitable for people of all heights.
Now let's get to the reason for thinness. On the catwalk, all clothes must have a perfect fit. But clothes have different trim in different physical shapes. And the bigger the size, the bigger the differences. Models usually wear Brazilian size 38 or 36. I will not convert to measures from other countries. Wherever you are in the world you will understand without having to convert. Each Brazilian size (pair numbers) means, in the case of pants, 4 centimeters more on the hips, and for blouses, 4 centimeters more on the bust. But we know that the person can wear a blouse size different from the pants size. This is due to physical types.  People who wear 36 or 38, regardless of body type, do not show very large differences in measurements.  Thinking of a model (woman) with a rectangular body and an hourglass type, the lack of waist (the larger measure for the waist) of the rectangular is barely noticed. In the case of men, the differences are even more subtle. So hardly a garment will have a bad fit on people who wear these sizes up and down.
But the fact of using tall and thin models on the catwalk does not mean that the brands do not make clothes for people of all physical types. If you don't feel represented by what you see on the catwalks, except in the case of obese people, who are not served by most brands, make an appointment with me to be able to develop an authentic and modern personal style, suitable for your profile. If you feel represented by what you see on the catwalks, make an appointment with me to avoid the risk of being a slave to fashion. Remembering that wearing only clothes of a certain style, such as romantic, retro, casual, etc. is not synonymous with having a personal style.
If you dream of being a model, but do not have the measures for catwalk, my suggestion is that you study theater to be a commercial model, which accepts people of all ages and physical types, with the ability to play as actors do.
