🇬🇧 Cultural nomadism - a lifestyle

We can move from a place to another for various reasons. One of them is to know better other cultures, to become a global citizen. Other is also cultural, when you move from a place with very limited cultural options to another with more resources on the matter. I experienced both. Culture was and is my fuel. I was born in a middle-sized city in Brazil, called Montes Claros. Once I read a quote from Plato about global citizenship and I desired to be a global citizen. I loved to read, to listen to some music and to see movies - the cultural options more accessible in that city. Some months after I move to Uberlândia - other middle-sized city, bigger than Montes Claros -, I started using the internet. It was 1999. Through Napster (do you remember it?) I discovered music (and advertising videos) from the whole world! I had a teacher who worked renting movies, that time, and she had movies which were not american blockbusters. What is a plus size model? I'm Nycka Nunes, digital and cultural nomad, and I work as a visual artist, fine art photographer and stylist, in addition to creating content on several platforms (this blog and social networks. Links in the sidebar). I have been working in the fashion industry since childhood. In this text I will talk specifically about plus size models. Plus size is NOT necessarily a fat person. For example, I've always been skinny and my hips measure 102 cm. If I were a model, with that hip measurement I would be a plus size model. O que é um(a) modelo plus size ? Eu sou Nycka Nunes, nômade digital e cultural, e trabalho como artista visual, fotógrafa fine art e stylist, além de criar conteúdos em várias plataformas (este blog e redes sociais. Links na barra lateral). Trabalho na indústria de moda desde a infância. Neste texto vou falar especificamente de modelos plus size. Plus size NÃO É, necessariamente, uma pessoa gorda. Por exemplo, eu sempre fui magra e meus quadris medem 102cm. Se eu fosse modelo, com essa medida de quadril eu seria uma modelo plus size. Plus size é uma pessoa que nós podemos identificar mais claramente o tipo físico, se compararmos duas pessoas com a mesma medida de quadril, por exemplo. Basta olhar para a pessoa e temos uma clara noção do tipo físico, que quase sempre se confirma ao tirarmos as medidas dela. Entre as modelos tradicionais é mais difícil identificar isso. I believe that personal style is intertwined with lifestyle and personal development, so in this blog I share personal reflections and a little about my lifestyle. As a stylist, I believe that personal style is linked to self-knowledge, personality and lifestyle, and therefore it is impossible to label a personal style. Also, if someone imitates someone else's appearance it goes against the grain of developing a strong personal style. I've always been skinny. To the point that, at a certain point, I took medicine to whet my appetite. At that time I ate little because the food at my maternal grandmother's house, where I lived, was ugly and bad.
