🇬🇧 Why hire a stylist? (For companies)

Why hire a stylist?  (For companies) I have been working in the fashion industry since the 80s and have held different jobs, which allows me to have a very rich repertoire to contribute to companies. As a stylist for companies, mainly for fashion brands, what I can offer includes: Training for salespeople, window dressers and visual merchandisers (only for fashion brands and boutiques). Lectures and workshops on corporate dress code, self-esteem and personal development. Design of fashion collections (clothing and accessories) with a creative or innovative profile, aimed at the global luxury and high-end market. Factory visits, final product quality assessment, and evaluation of pilot parts are required before I can offer approval to produce what I have created. I don't design for brands that don't have a competent team to make exactly what I had in mind. Photography and styling for fashion and jewellery catalogues. In this case I do both services or just the styling. S...

🌍 Elie Saab Fall/Winter 23/24 Reviewed

In this text, I'm going to talk a little about the autumn/winter 23/24 collection by Elie Saab. The brand used shades of black, white, a greenish tone of yellow (or a yellowish tone of green), green, red and a bluish tone of lilac (or a purplish tone of blue) as a base. I already said that I don't stick to colour names. I prefer to study their impact on the client's non-verbal communication. Although the collection has many black pieces, like all the others, the brand brought many black pieces with colourful embroidery and spring air. With the exception of the black/white and red tones, the other base tones also brought interesting options to the collection. Embroideries and textures also enrich it. All body shapes have at least two pieces in the collection that they can wear. Some sleeves are at that length that should be longer or shorter, but it's not the right length on the model. There were few, but I noticed that.  And whoever took care of the styling missed a...

🌍 Types of fashion and style consumers

Regarding the consumption of fashion and style, there are some categories of consumers.  Simply put, I can say that there are three categories. One category is people who invest in style, who don't seek external validation, but rather show, through their style, who they are and attract people who appreciate them as they are. It is usually made up of innovators, who like to value their individuality and can use fashion as a tool to communicate their personal development. They know that personal image is a non-verbal communication tool and seek my expert guidance, as the world's leading expert on the subject, to achieve the goals they desire. The second category, and the one with the most subdivisions, is that of people who seek to be in fashion, who want to follow fashion in order to be accepted by a group. All subdivisions of this category include varied ways of using fashion and trends to seek external validation. One of the subdivisions of this group includes people wanting...

🌍 Dolce & Gabbana men. Fall/winter 23/24 reviewed

The Dolce & Gabbana men's collection for fall/winter 23/24 had a colour palette limited to black, white and light shades of brown. The models of the pants brought a variety of options, tending towards less ample cuts than the shows I reviewed earlier. Every time I see long sleeves that are a little shorter than they should be, I remember a scene from a film about Chanel in which the designer is adjusting the sleeves of a suit just before the show. Yeah... all brands could make the sleeves longer and adjust them to the arm length of each model or each customer. If you buy without proper professional guidance, you run the risk of purchasing less than elegant pieces. The brand brings cropped tops from women's wardrobe to men's and also under bust bodices. Wide belts, marking the waist are also part of the collection. Transparencies, deep necklines, lace, embroidery and sequins are also present, in addition to waisted cuts. And many pieces of conventional cuts. These, es...

🌍 Saint Laurent men. Fall/Winter 23/24 reviewed

Let's talk about Saint Laurent again. This time, talking about the autumn/winter 23/24 men's collection. I'm glad that men's fashion is finally breaking gender stereotypes. And bored because some brands that are supposed to set trends are producing more of the same. Saint Laurent made me feel both alternating as I saw the pieces on the show. Saint Laurent brought to the catwalk only shades of black and white and about 3 pieces in other colours (dark blue, a shade of beige and brown). Nycka, have you seen the dresses? Yes, I did! And I'm happy that brands are crossing the line that dresses are for women. I've always said that Jesus Christ never wore a suit. And I'm not even Catholic. The best clothes were certainly the ones the brand dared to cross the boundaries of gender stereotypes and some of the shirts (especially those that wouldn't look as good on women). Some pieces were too conventional. When we study the target audience in marketing, we know...

🌍 Louis Vuitton Men. Fall/Winter 23/24 Reviewed

Continuing with the comments about the autumn/winter 23/24 collections, I'll talk about another men's show, the one by Louis Vuitton. A slight smile appeared on my face when I saw that the first pieces of the show were in light shades of purple. The smile grew when I saw that the brand also brought men's skirts to the runway and long coats with closed bottoms, like men's dresses. Are the boundaries between male and female finally being broken down in the fashion industry? Apparently not yet, as many shows are still separated by gender. The skirt was my favourite piece, of course. But the collection has other interesting pieces. Regarding colours, the brand used tones of purple, red (wine) and brown as the basis of the collection. In the prints, the variety of colours was greater. The trousers are quite roomy, and one of them reminds me of the pantaloon trousers that were a hit in women's fashion in the 80s, a type of design that I really like for men. Like other...

🇬🇧 About restaurants and other places to eat

To be fair, I must consider some points when talking about some restaurant or any other place to eat. The main points I'll consider are: The environment. What kind of people did I see there? What kind of neighbourhood have the place? And other related points. The size of the place and its capacity to receive people. The address. Where the restaurant is. Access. If it's easy to go there? Is there easy parking? Is it easy to go with a cab? Hygiene. Service. Does the waiters and other professionals serve me with sympathy, agility and other desirable qualities? Does the place offer the option to pack the food to take home? Does it offer delivery service? Does it accept dogs and cats? What do the restaurant offer for the pets if they're accepted? Is the space reserved to pet owners as good as the other spaces in the restaurant? The menu. Variety, originality, quality, etc. Prices. Distinguishability. The unique qualities of the business. Positive and negative points...

🇬🇧 About hotels and other places to stay

To be fair, I must consider some points when talking about some hotel or any other place where to stay during our travels. The main points I'll consider are: The environment. What kind of people did I see there? What kind of neighbourhood have the place? And other related points. The size of the hotel and its capacity to receive people. The address. Where the hotel is. Access. If it's easy to go there? Is there easy parking? Is it easy to go with a cab? Do they offer transportation between the local airport and the hotel for the guests? Is this service free or charged, if they offer it? Hygiene. Service. Does the professionals serve me with sympathy, agility and other desirable qualities? Does the hotel offer some way for the guest tell the team not to enter the room when the guest doesn't want to be disturbed? Does the team respect this message? Does the hotel accept dogs and cats? Is there some limitations related to the pets? What do the hotel offer for the pets...
