🇬🇧 Typical foods from Africa - Part 1

Let’s start the second part of our gastronomic tour around the world. The first part was about typical foods of the american continent, from north to south. Today we start talking about Africa, a continent with more countries than the Americas.

This time we’ll talk about Southern Africa first, and each day we’ll talk about a different region. I think it’s better to plan a trip this way. I didn’t consider this in the Americas. The countries we consider for this region are Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and obviously South Africa.

    • Botswana: Chotlho or seswaa. Serobe. Phaphatha. Dikgobe. Bogobe jwa lerotse. Mmasekuku.
    • Eswatini: Karoo roast ostrich steak. Slaai. Sishwala.

Today I bring you a recipe from Cambodia called Sankhya Lapov. As the title denounces, it's sweet. Surprise your friends with this dessert at the next dinner with them at your house. In the Khmer language, sankhya lapov translates to pumpkin custard. Ingredients : 6 eggs 300g of coconut milk A bit of salt 300g of palm sugar Pandan leaves 2 kabocha squash Directions : Cut a square out of the top of the pumpkins, remove the seeds and clean with water. In a bowl, mix the eggs, coconut milk, salt and padan leaves and mix well with your hands, squeezing the leaves. Strain the mixture. Pour the strained liquid inside the pumpkins. Steam the pumpkins for 50 minutes. Let cool at room temperature. Serve cold, cutting into slices like a pie. Being a Westerner, I suggest bringing the whole pumpkins to the table and slicing them afterwards, to make an impact on people. Twenty one years ago I entered this world. In the beginning it was dial up connection to enter, as quick as a lame turtle. The quality of the pictures that time was low, and I think a selfie like today we transfer in an instant would require several minutes or hours to be downloaded that time.  I was talking with some acquaintances yesterday about this. And one of them told us once he met a girl who told him she was like a younger Patricia Pilar (a famous and beautiful brazilian actress). He had no pictures of the girl and his expectations were too high, and he was sad to observe she really looked like the actress except for one detail: her nose was rough and big. 🇬🇧 Why models must be tall and thin

Many people question the fact that catwalk models are always tall and thin when, according to them, “normal” people are shorter and never so thin. If you question yourself about this, read this text to the end. If you never thought about it, read it too!  😁 I work in the fashion industry since I was a child. I am 1.75 meters tall. When I was a teenager, it was impossible to find pants that suited me perfectly in length. They were all short. Fashion in Brazil at that time was far from being developed as it is nowadays. So, the obvious and practical reason why models are taller than average is to avoid this problem, to make clothes that fit perfectly for taller than average people. Because it is very easy to shorten a pair of pants than to lengthen them. In fact, all the methods for stretching pants, shirts, etc. will make the change very evident, looking like a patch.
