🇬🇧 From Hannah Montana to Miley Cyrus

I've been asked about Miley Cyrus' change since she became famous as Hannah Montana. I've never watched Hannah Montana, but I know Miley has changed the way she sing and dress a lot since her career began. Also, when she started working as Hannah Montana she was a little girl! When she reached the age of 19, she wanted to see herself in a different, more sensual way, and she experimented with that. Experiences that are sometimes monumental errors, of a sad vulgarity to see in such a beautiful and talented woman.

She was changing musically too. Only recently, as far as I know, has she ventured into rock and into songs that better explore the potential of her voice. Much technically improved. This I saw a music teacher commenting on a social network as soon as she sang with Metallica. Anyone who follows my playlists on Spotify knows that pop isn't something I listen to often (however I have some of her songs in my playlists).

As happened (or is happening) with Billie Eilish (check the post about her), Miley Cyrus is looking for an identity to see that the previous image, of Hannah Montana, no longer matches who she is, to his current interests, to the way he wants to explore his talents nowadays. It is a natural part of the personal development process. For a public person, this change can be daunting, especially if poorly managed.

Working with the image, I have always told those who asked “clothes that will never go out of fashion” that this does not exist because fashion changes like us, people naturally inclined to self-knowledge. Fashion exists to keep up with innovators.

Apparently Miley is still looking for her identity, or she still doesn't have a good guide on how to best communicate that identity. One of the proofs of this is that she sang with Anitta, who is far from having her vocal talent, at Lollapalooza (I saw it in the story of someone I follow and went to the event), in Brazil. Miley wants the image of an attractive woman, but she also wants to find out where she can take her singing talent. Anitta just wants to make money by exploring the biggest clichés about Brazilian women and without making sure to have consistency between appearance and language, because for her audience this consistency does not matter, due to its low cultural level…. Anita is reaching the goal. Miley can do better (Anitta can too, but clearly she doesn't want to).

From the point of view of the personal image as a communication tool, the image of Miley Cyrus is evolving and can improve a lot, so that sensuality does not fall into the vulgar, typical of Anitta and other artists whose audience has a very low cultural level and vulgar by nature. A vulgar that Miley herself adopts in some situations.

A musician can explore a creative image above the level of his fans, be an inspiration for his fans to develop a more interesting style. Unfortunately, both due to insecurity and the lack of a stylist who develops a continuous work with the artist considering her image as a communication tool, most of the pop artists are imitations of the fans themselves. If the fans are vulgar, they are too. If fans only wear black, they do the same (this is very common in rock and metal). If the fans are wearing t-shirts and trainers, that’s what they wear on stage. They fail to create art with their looks, to impress not only with their music and dance, but also with their style.

Miley does not have a defined style, although the desire to be seen as a sexy woman is evident. A novice stylist or a fan who doesn't work in the field might say that her current style is sexy. It’s not. True style is personal, it does not accept labels. Her "sexy" is cartoonish and poorly designed, to the point of being vulgar in many situations, making a mistake in the hairstyle, not having an adequate thread. But it is certainly clear that she and Hannah Montana are not the same person.

Maybe I'm wrong and she likes vulgarity, which is why she dresses so vulgar sometimes. I just think she has the potential for a sensual image with good taste, which enhances her beauty.
