🇬🇧 How important is image to find a job?
Many people are asking me about this theme. And I read something yesterday that made me include some extra information here. A young woman wrote on her LinkedIn profile that those looking for jobs must be submissive, as they need the job. A questionable opinion.
I’ll start from the end. Why do I question the opinion of this lady? Because there are more than one profile of professional. What she says tells a lot about hers. Those who are mediocre must really be submissive as they should be grateful if they’re accepted anywhere. But don’t feel so happy. The kind of business hiring mediocre people usually dismiss these people easily. I recommend you to invest on becoming outstanding, excellent. It’s not by chance art and culture are central themes in this blog.
Now we can talk about the personal image. For the mediocre, as they don’t care about the content, it’s not worthy to take care of style. A beautiful pack with mediocre content pleased no one. If you try to be “elegant” you can be judged as overqualified before you open your mouth to say something. And style alone won’t keep you in the job if you get it.
For those who knows what they want, it’s very important to invest on their personal style as much as they invest in self-improvement. Professional advice able to translate your best qualities through your appearance is needed. It’s expensive to find good professionals for this, but it’s worthy the investment. As you’re not like everyone, to follow free advice on personal style, or on how you should behave during the interviews for jobs or how to present your resumé is the worst possible idea.
Enjoy the tips.
