When some people think about moving to another city or country, they look for quality of life comparisons. But the quality of life is subjective. You can think of objective parameters such as the education level of the population, the level of unemployment, etc., but is that all?
On Orkut and Facebook I ran a community and a page related to women with short hair, in Portuguese, and it was common for women to repeat what many Brazilian women's magazines say: “men prefer women with long hair”. I've always said that no one needs most men, that every woman only needs one who values and respects her for who she is. The same thought extends to the question of lifestyle. Common sense may think that quality of life is a low unemployment rate, a reasonable level of education, an X standard of safety. And it can be essential for you to have an ice rink near your home, a nice park to run with your dog or neighbours to help you clear the snow from the roof because you were born in Brazil and have only seen snow in movies and photos. These things are also part of the search for a nice place. And neglecting the importance of these details, it's common for people to get frustrated when moving to another city or country.
This text is just to remind you of those little things that matter. Having a good job in another country can be a bad experience if you find it difficult to make new friends, for example.
I have lived this lifestyle since 1998. I learned a lot during that time. If you want to make the most of your experience in another city or country, follow my social media profiles and read the previous texts on this site.
