🇬🇧 Music from Sweden

Since Roxette during the 90’s, I knew some musicians from Sweden. Many of them you know too. Some others you don’t. Tell me if you know some other musicians from Sweden.

    • ABBA. Famous worldwide during the 70’s, they’re coming back!
    • Ace of Base. If you were young in the 90’s you know some of their songs, even if you didn’t know they’re from Sweden.
    • Amaranthe. A metal band. If you’re not into metal you should try, they have a girl as main singer.
    • Anette Olzon. She became famous as the singer of finnish band Nightwish after Tarja Turunen being fired. Nowadays she has a solo career.
    • Amon Amarth. It’s metal too. I don’t know them very well. Other than Arch Enemy, I don’t listen to death metal often.
    • Arch Enemy. Death metal with a girl singing. I started listening to Arch Enemy when Angela Gossow was the singer. She’s amazing! Nowadays they have a new singer called Alissa. She’s great too, with gutturals and clean vocals as you can notice listening to “Reason to believe” from the album “Will to Power”.
    • The Cardigans. “Lovefool” was always playing at parties while I was at the university.
    • Dark Funeral. Black metal. I’m barely acquainted to their songs. I was more into trying everything in early 2000’s, the Napster Era.
    • Dark Tranquillity. Melodic death metal, like Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth. Nordics appreciate death metal.
    • Deathstars. Industrial metal. Although their lyrics are usually sad, as english is only my second language I ignore the lyrics and enjoy the music.
    • Dragonland. Power metal. Although I love power metal I’m barely acquainted with them.
    • Europe. One of those old bands anyone above 40 must know.
    • Evergrey. Tom Englund is among my favourite singers ever and they are nice guys (I met them in person twice until the moment I’m writing this). It’s progressive metal.
    • Hammerfall. Another band I recommend.
    • In Flames. Another band I like although the lyrics are often pessimistic.
    • The Mayries. Two swedish women. I only listened to covers from these girls, but their voices are nice. I love their version of “God is a woman”.
    • The Murder of my Sweet. A recent discovery through the random choices of Spotify (as it happened with the Mayries). They are metal.
    • Pain of Salvation. They are the cause I discovered Evergrey as the band of Tom Englund opened their gig in Porto Alegre in 2005. That time I really loved songs like “Undertow”. Nowadays they’re not being played often in my playlists. Maybe I should check what they are doing...
    • Rednex. I couldn’t imagine this country band is from Sweden. I discovered this now, checking information for this text. I knew them in the 90’s. Nice songs to have fun and dance.
    • Roxette. I know you know them. I have a “Crash! Boom! Bang!” here. Maybe Per Gesle can autograph it some day for me.
    • Sabaton. More metal. Their current drummer played with Evergrey for a while and was in Brazil when Evergrey was on tour for the album “Glorious Collision”.
    • Vintersorg. Andreas Hedlund has a great voice. You should try to listen.
    • Yngwie Malmsteen. A great swedish guitarist.

Sweden for me means mostly metal music. And the books about the girl with the dragon tattoo. Feel free to tell me more about the country. I know there’s more to discover. Checking information for this text I discovered lots of artists I’ll try to pay attention to.
