Regarding the consumption of fashion and style, there are some categories of consumers. Simply put, I can say that there are three categories.
One category is people who invest in style, who don't seek external validation, but rather show, through their style, who they are and attract people who appreciate them as they are. It is usually made up of innovators, who like to value their individuality and can use fashion as a tool to communicate their personal development. They know that personal image is a non-verbal communication tool and seek my expert guidance, as the world's leading expert on the subject, to achieve the goals they desire.
The second category, and the one with the most subdivisions, is that of people who seek to be in fashion, who want to follow fashion in order to be accepted by a group. All subdivisions of this category include varied ways of using fashion and trends to seek external validation. One of the subdivisions of this group includes people wanting to wear specific brands to try to be accepted by a group, with the brand and not the trend being their means to seek external validation. Another is that of people who have never worked with fashion in their lives and decide to be “influencers”, talking about a topic they don't know and being followed by people who know even less about the subject. Fashion victims are another group, generally fond of fast fashion clothes, because it is financially unfeasible to buy a large volume of clothes and accessories that are trending each season in quality brands. These are some examples. People in this category and its subdivisions can seek my work to feel more confident, know themselves better, and develop a style in an intelligent way, contributing to reduce the volume of waste produced by the fast fashion industry by choosing to buy products that demonstrate their style and are durable.
The third group is people who don't care about fashion or style. People who wear clothes because they can't go out naked, or because they need them to protect themselves from the cold or excessive heat. But they don't give a shit about fashion or style. They are often similar to the second group in that they seek validation from those who, like them, do not see value in fashion or understand what style is. I do not attend this category for obvious reasons. They don't value my work, or themselves, enough to pay for my services (like many in the second category).
