🇬🇧 Tips for those who want to live in Brazil

Are you moving to Brazil or are you thinking of living in the country?  This post has some useful tips.

The official language of Brazil is Portuguese. I recommend studying a little before moving to the country. People of higher cultural and financial level usually speak English, but don't expect a supermarket attendant to speak the language. Many language schools in the country offer Portuguese courses for foreigners in case you ignore my recommendation. Brazil is a country of continental dimensions and each region has peculiarities in its spoken language, which, as in other languages, has differences in relation to the cultured language standard, the one that Brazilians learn at school and you, foreigners, learn in courses  of Portuguese. The difference in relation to Portuguese from Portugal is also remarkable.

How to find a job in Brazil? Surely LinkedIn can be very helpful. If you work on your personal brand, going directly to the websites of companies that have your profile is also an option. There are also numerous recruitment company websites and job portals such as vagas.com.br that may be useful for some.

How to find out if there is field in Brazil for your business idea? It will depend on what your area of expertise is, but the internet has a multitude of resources that can be very useful in this research. The country also has a plethora of consulting companies that can be useful in refining your business plan. For companies that sponsor this blog (annual sponsorship) I can also offer some tips for entering the Brazilian market.

Where to search for properties to rent or buy? Two major real estate portals with both options throughout Brazil are www.zapimoveis.com.br and https://www.imovelweb.com.br, both in Portuguese.

To get an idea of the cost of living, numbeo.com is a good reference, but I also recommend monitoring the prices for renting or buying property on the websites mentioned above, to get an idea of housing costs within the standards you expect.

This blog encourages people to migrate to different countries or cities for cultural enrichment, and encourages this change to be made legally and in order to contribute to the economic growth of their destination, in addition to improving their own quality of life. Knowing the culture of your destination and respecting it is an important step in the adaptation process. For that, following this blog and my profiles on social media can be very useful, and also be part of the group “Nycka, the Nomad” on the Telegram app. Go to https://t.me/nyckathenomad to join the group.
