It is not new to see celebrities showing their belly during pregnancy. Although the less informed people think that Rihanna started, decades before the Brazilian Leila Diniz already showed her belly only in a bikini on the beach in 1971. And since then many others, famous and anonymous, have done the same.
Yesterday I saw a photo of actress Michelle Williams in Cannes with a dress that looks like a pregnant woman from the past. That dress of hers didn't flatter her, it flattened her in every possible way. So, here I am sharing tips for pregnant women to enhance their beauty and make their baby stand out.
When I was still a teenager I created a top that was all open in the front, closed by two straps between the breasts and nothing else. One day a client came to the studio and ended up getting this top, which I made for myself, but I think it's cool for pregnant women who wear clothes that expose their belly. As a bonus, many of these clothes can continue to be worn after pregnancy.
So, what would be the key pieces of a trendy maternity wardrobe?
- Shirts. Yes, you can work wonders with traditional shirts. You can also choose men's shirts.
- Low waist pants. Luckily for you, they're back in fashion. Of course, they can also be low-waisted skirts or shorts. The less puffy you are, the more you can abuse short outfits. If you were very thin and pregnancy left you with beautiful legs, you can use shorts and short skirts too.
- Comfortable shoes. And that means whatever is comfortable for you. Preferably comfortable and beautiful ones. There are several options on the market and no one needs to wear ugly shoes in the name of comfort. Typically, the bigger your budget, the more comfortable shoe options you will have, but not all expensive brands are good quality and not all brands have comfortable shoes.
- Cropped top + elongated vest, blazer or shirt combinations. You can wear a bikini for casual occasions, but pay attention to the size of any top to fully accommodate your breasts. They probably won't look good on you later on, but it's better to invest in something you know you'll need to throw away rather than wearing small tops and creating a vulgar look.
- If you choose to cover your belly, create a balance of volume by wearing something slimmer, but not too tight, at the bottom.
- Currently, several brands have dresses with cutouts that leave the belly exposed. They can also be interesting options.
- Even if you are bloated and dissatisfied with how you look in the mirror, take the opportunity to see yourself as beautiful as you are today. And taking care of your appearance, looking for clothes that value your body as it is today is a way of seeing this beauty.
