🌍 Chanel Fall/Winter 23/24 Commented

In this text I will comment on the Chanel autumn/winter 23/24 collection. The brand was originally marked by originality. I love the story of Gabrielle Chanel. And I'm not as passionate about the brand today. With Lagerfeld the brand had interesting creations. And in this collection there are some interesting pieces too. But it has an air of warmed-up ideas to please an audience that doesn't understand anything about fashion and thinks that Chanel is classic and conservative.

Remembering that I am a style consultant, photographer and visual artist, not a fashion journalist. The comments are essentially personal, with some interference from my experience in the fashion industry, because I've been working with it since I was a child and I can't separate my opinions about fashion from the knowledge I have in creating and making clothes. I manage to separate my personal opinion from the professional one in consulting, but not eliminate completely the consultant opinion from the personal opinion. For styling advice and advice on what to buy you must hire my style consultancy.

Right off the bat, the clothes with the brand's logo make me want to scream. Those of you who know my work know why.

The camellias and plaid prints characteristic of the brand are present in several pieces.

The colour palette was black/white/grey and red shades (from rose shades to burgundy ones). Zero innovation. I'm not the fashion freak who names all shades, although I see them. So much so that I say “shades of black”. Black on denim is different from black on velvet, which is different from black on silk, and so on. In the other colours I speak from light to dark shades. As I mentioned in other texts, I have more interesting things to study than what fashion journalists call a certain shade of pink.

The brand predominantly used standard skinny models and some plus size models not much larger than standard. It is not ideal for observing the fit of clothes (the ideal is standard skinny models, because the differences in body type are almost imperceptible). But in general, it has pieces suitable for all body types. When I talk about physical types I mean shape, not being tall, short, and other physical characteristics. To find out if the brand has something suitable for you, and which pieces from this or other brands enhance your appearance the most, you must hire my style consultancy.

Some long sleeves were a little short, showing part of the arm, in a length that is a poor attempt at being long sleeved. I'm very picky about these details because they destroy the chances of an outfit being elegant. Good brands make tops with sleeves that can be too long, which is relatively easy to adjust, not too short.

The collection has some cool pieces to the percentage of simple design pieces that everyone must have. And almost nothing that shows style and personality. These few pieces I would wear. I wouldn't wear the shorts and unfortunately the best looking trousers in the collection are too short even on the model, flattening the silhouette and taking elegance out of the equation. Maybe a good choice for short women as there is the possibility to have an adequate length for them. I’m tall.

I work with a style consultancy emphasising the importance of colours and shapes as non-verbal communication tools to enhance the best features of your personality and appearance.
